Magnetite

Magnetite, an iron-oxide, is a naturally magnetic earth mineral. Magnetite is the ’special ingredient’ in MICR toner and MICR ink. This unique mineral is ground up to powder and mixed in with your regular laser toner to give it its MICR capabilities. Because every device is unique, the amount of magnetite in your laser cartridge is calculated through a series of extensive tests.

The high levels magnetism make magnetite a candidate for many common applications. It can be used to purify drinking water, as a fertilizer for soil, for printing machine-readable checks and as a pigment in paint mixtures.
