Iron oxide is a naturally-occurring compound of iron and oxygen. Commonly known as rust, this reddish-brown colour is a result of long-term exposure of metal to oxygen. Magnetite, a mineral of iron oxide, is naturally magnetic and used in the formulation of MICR toner or MICR ink.Iron oxides can be pigmented and mixed with other colours for painting or printing purposes. MICR check printing uses black MICR ink or toner only.
