Amount Field

The MICR amount field is an optional field located in the MICR line. It consists of 10 characters including two decimal places.

Using the optional MICR amount field is recommended as it provides a more reliable way to present amount values. The redundant amounts reduce the likelihood of manual processing fees by using MICR to scan an additional field. Most often found on business checks and financial documents. Setting up your software to print the amount field is usually quite simple. Other MICR fields include: Account Number or On-Us, Transit and Institution or Routing Transit Number and the Check Number.
