How Is MICR Toner Different From Regular Toner?

Regular Toner Or MICR Toner?MICR toner is quite different from regular toner and is used primarly for check printing. The “M” in MICR Toner stands for Magnetic, which is a unique property of all MICR toner ink. This magnetism is caused by the presence of iron-oxide (or magnetite) in the chemical composition of the toner powder.

MICR readers or MICR scanners used by your bank to process financial data can only record data printed with MICR toner or MICR ink. It is possible for some banks to read data printed with regular toner. However, when it comes to printing the MICR line, it is highly advised to use only magnetic MICR toner.
